Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a percentage?
x% of a number = number × x ÷ 100. For example 15% of 2,000 = 300.
How do I calculate a percentage increase?
(New price − old price) ÷ old price × 100. For example 80 to 100 is a 25% increase.
What is the difference between simple and compound interest?
Simple interest is charged only on the principal. In compound interest each period's interest is added to the principal, so the amount grows faster.
